Albert Coyne is an actor, most recently performing in a variety of roles aboard the Disney Dream. In his free time, Albert enjoys spending time with friends, skateboarding, or just making music on his ukulele. Always excited to take on some new adventure, Albert is quick to experiment with new skillsets, hoping to never stop learning.
Albert lived in Virginia, Georgia, and Michigan before his family settled in Frederick, Maryland. Always fascinated by the “new,” Albert dabbled in baseball, rock climbing, and 4-H (even raising goats!). After watching his younger brother, Stephen, blow the audience away as Charlie in Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Albert decided to audition for his school’s 2009 production of Grease Jr., landing his first theatrical roles: Danny Zuko and Doody. From that point on, he was hooked. Despite participating in a rigorous International Baccalaureate program, Albert still found time for the theatre in high school. Gradually improving his craft and learning whatever he could, Albert eventually landed roles such as Peter Van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank and Lt. Frank Cioffi in Curtains, while also serving as President of his school’s chapter of the International Thespian Society. He sang in his school’s choir and served as cantor at his church. Albert also pursued his passions in aviation and aquatics. He took flight lessons and interned with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, which allowed him to volunteer on the flight line directing and parking aircraft at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI. In the world of aquatics, Albert began swimming competitively both in the summer leagues and at school, working his way up to be his high school’s Men’s Varsity Co-Captain. Albert also became certified as a lifeguard and pool technician and could be found sitting poolside during the summers and teaching swim lessons, which ignited his love of working with children.
After high school, Albert attended The Ohio State University. Although an engineering student, he still had that theatrical spark inside of him, and as a freshman he joined the Arts Scholars program and auditioned for Ohio State’s only service-based, student-run musical theatre group, Off the Lake Productions. Getting to know the group as a member of the ensemble in their production of Legally Blonde, Albert found his home away from home, continuing to work with this passionate group of people over the next four years, eventually serving as Service Co-Chair on their Executive Board. After much soul-searching his sophomore year, Albert switched his major from Engineering to Theatre. Joining the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society, Albert took every opportunity available to him. He was introduced to a love of stage management when he was brought on as an assistant stage manager for Ohio State’s production of The Coast of Illyria. He explored this path more, participating in the Broadway Basics Stage Management Workshop and Instruction in New York, NY and shadowing the stage managers of School of Rock the Musical on Broadway. To learn more from professionals around the country, Albert then also attended the Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, KY where he learned more about the process of producing new works. Musical performance remained his passion though, and Albert was thrilled to play substantial roles in productions of Godspell, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Reefer Madness, and Ohio State’s main stage production of Heathers: The Musical. During his time in college, Albert also continued lifeguarding (getting to work NCAA swimming and diving championships), professionally trained as a bartender, and worked as a server at one of Columbus’s most prominent sports bars. Albert adored every second he spent at Ohio State and graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Theatre in May of 2018.
Albert has always loved that good theatrical performances can transport an audience out of the “real world” and into a story, allowing them to escape their everyday lives, even if just for a short while. Knowing that the Walt Disney Company is home to some of the world’s best storytellers, Albert moved to Orlando, Florida after graduation to learn from the best, first as a participant in the Disney College Program, and then as a full-time cast member. As a performer, Albert was thrilled to work special events such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Fantasmic! stage show, and Adventures with Kevin at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, where he also worked as a facilitator for their new-hire park orientation, DAKlimation. Wanting to explore even more, Albert joined the Disney Cruise Line team in the fall of 2021 as part of their Star Wars Day at Sea cast, and has been traveling the world with them ever since.
